Episode 9 – Black Lives Matter: Women of Color in STEM

From the start, Scirens has had a commitment to diversity and inclusion – it’s one of our core values – and we also believe in being life-long learners. So in the wake of George Floyd’s death and the incredible social justice actions it inspired, we are taking a deeper look at who we are following on our social platforms, where we get our news, and the kinds of stories we’re sharing. Like we said – always learning! Today we bring you three stories of women of color in STEM:

– Marine biologist Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, founder of the Urban Ocean Lab
– Gladys West, one of the “hidden figures” on the team that helped develop GPS
– Tracy Drain, Deputy Project Systems engineer for Psyche, the NASA mission to a metal asteroid
