Scirens.com is proud to partner with Perimeter Institute for the last public talk of the 2015/2016 season discussing “brilliant blunders” – the mistakes made by some of history’s greatest scientists on Wed., June 1 at 4PM PDT (7PM EDT).
Even the greatest scientists have made some serious blunders. “Brilliant Blunders” concerns the evolution of life on Earth, of the Earth itself, of stars, and of the universe as a whole.
In this talk, astrophysicist Dr. Mario Livio will explore and analyze major errors committed by such luminaries as Charles Darwin, Linus Pauling, and Albert Einstein. During this free talk, webcast live on the Perimeter Institute website, Dr. Livio will scrutinize the various types of blunders and attempt to explain how they happen. Blunders are not only inevitable, argues Dr. Livio, but also an integral component of the process of science.
Following the talk, Dr. Livio will answer questions from the online and in-house audience – including questions submitted prior to and during the talk via Facebook and Twitter (using the hashtag #piLIVE). Questions are welcomed from everyone – aspiring scientific explorers, school classes, physics and chemistry buffs, and general science enthusiasts.
